Our Forest School Charter
By stepping into our natural learning community, you're agreeing to join us on this wonderful journey through the woods and seasons, guided by these agreements that keep everyone safe, happy, and free to explore.
By wandering into our digital forest (this website) or enrolling in our outdoor programs, you're agreeing to honor these terms like we honor the trees - with respect, care, and understanding. If any of these terms feel like thorny brambles to you, we kindly ask that you choose a different path through the woods.
You're welcome to explore our digital forest for personal use, much like gathering knowledge instead of mushrooms. However, please don't:
Our forest school is a place where children climb real trees, splash in actual puddles, and discover the magic that lives between raindrops. Like all great adventures, this comes with inherent risks that we manage thoughtfully but cannot eliminate entirely.
By enrolling your little explorer, you understand:
We believe there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing! Our programs run rain or shine, through gentle snowfalls and summer breezes. Please ensure your child comes dressed for the day's natural offerings.
Program cancellations only occur for:
We love documenting the wonder in children's eyes as they discover a new beetle or master tree climbing. By enrolling, you give us permission to photograph and video your child for:
If you prefer your child's adventures remain private, just let us know - we'll work around it like we work around sleeping bears!
Our forest community thrives on mutual respect - for each other, our educators, and the natural world that hosts us. Children learn through guidance and natural consequences, always with compassion and understanding. If your child is unable to follow our golden rules, is an escape risk, or still approaching the goal of self regulation in an agressive way, they may require further support to attend for the safety of everyone. We have an amazing team of support workers available and accept many types of funding.
Please keep sick little ones at home to rest and recover - the forest will wait for them! We maintain first aid certification, emergency procedures, and regular safety assessments of our outdoor sites.
Our programs require advance payment to maintain consistent staffing and site preparation. Cancellation policies are outlined in your specific program agreement, designed to be fair while protecting our forest school's sustainability.
While we provide rich, meaningful outdoor experiences with trained educators, we cannot guarantee specific learning outcomes, perfect weather, or that your child won't come home with interesting creatures in their pockets (though we do check!).
We protect your family's information like we protect bird nests - carefully and with great respect. We'll never share your contact details with others or use your information for anything beyond our forest school operations.
If any concerns grow like persistent weeds, we'll work together to resolve them through open communication. Any formal disputes will be handled under British Columbia law, in the spirit of collaborative problem-solving we teach in our programs.
Like the seasons, these terms may change to better serve our community. We'll always give families notice of any significant changes, allowing time to discuss concerns just as we encourage children to observe changes in their natural environment.
Remember: Forest school is about fostering independence, resilience, and a deep connection with nature. These terms exist to protect that magical space where children can be wild, free, and deeply engaged with the natural world.
Welcome to our forest family! 🌲💚
